Spark

Spark project cover

2026

The brief

The project stems from an analysis of Turin's urban context, aimed at identifying a local entity, such as public bodies, associations, or businesses, to collaborate with. The goal was to propose a design solution, in the form of a digital product, that would address a real need, to be understood through direct engagement with the context and its people. The choice fell on Torino Creativa, a municipal organization dedicated to creating a welcoming, dynamic, and proactive environment for young creatives, within a network of connections that allows for the generation and support of individual and collective projects that enrich the city.

The goal

To precisely map user needs, a series of targeted interviews were conducted. The research involved three key stakeholder categories: art, design, and architecture students; associations, collectives, or clubs that organize creative events in the area; and Torino Creativa itself, as a promoter of creativity as a driver of development and growth. The interviews allowed us to systematically investigate users' relationships with the context, revealing particularly relevant insights and certain recurring patterns. Based on the data collected during the user research, the primary need shared by the various stakeholders was identified: the need for a single place that brings together all of Turin's creative initiatives, while simultaneously facilitating research for users and planning for organizers and artists.

The solution

The solution is Spark, an app that brings together all the events of Turin's creative scene in one place, connecting people, ideas, and opportunities. Its pop and contemporary visual identity combines creative energy, clarity, and usability, drawing inspiration from the latest UI design trends. The app is designed to meet two mirrored needs, structured into two integrated modules: an area dedicated to participants, optimized for searching and discovering events, and a platform dedicated to organizers, designed for publishing and promoting content.

The user area is divided into four sections. The Homepage is dedicated to discovery. A pop-up shows the latest news published on the platform, keeping the user always updated. Events are divided into specific categories, such as 'Photography' or 'Workshop', which indicate the type and theme of the event. Macro-categories facilitate users who aren't looking for something specific, grouping multiple different events into larger collections, such as 'Hands-on' or 'Late Night', which are created by the app based on the information provided about the event. The Search page is designed for those who prefer an active search, divided into three viewing modes: the list view displays events in a chronological order, the calendar view arranges events by time, and the map view allows for a localized view within the city of Turin. Tickets for booked events can be found in the Tickets section, which displays key information and the access QR code. It is also possible to manually upload tickets pu rchased outside the platform using the dedicated button. On the Profile page, the user can access their personal information and view the events they are booked for in a personalized calendar.

Ticket Section

The organizer interface maintains a very similar structure to the user interface to ensure consistency and ease of use. A color theme distinguishes them, designed to provide immediate visual feedback and allow users to instantly identify the area they are working in. The Homepage serves as both monitoring and inspiration. This screen allows organizers to have an overview of all the events viewed by users and save the most interesting and inspiring events in a dedicated section.
The Search section has a nearly identical look to the user interface, offering organizers a crucial overview for coordinating and scheduling events.

Search Section

The Upload section is essential for organizers. Here, organizers can enter all the information related to the event they wish to publish, from the cover photo to the location, date, and time, with a dedicated space for any collaborators. Once the event is published, organizers retain full freedom to update its details at any time. Any changes automatically send a notification to registered users, keeping them updated on any changes or schedule changes.

Upload Section

Even when the app is closed, users and organizers stay connected to Turin's creative scene thanks to a system of targeted notifications. By receiving updates on the latest news and reminders about ongoing activities, they maintain direct contact with the urban ecosystem, encouraging active and ongoing participation in the city's cultural life.
